LONDON -- Quindell Portfolio� (LSE: QPP ) -- a provider of software, consultancy and technology outsourcing expertise in the insurance, telecommunications and related sectors -- released its annual report for the year ending Dec. 31, 2012, this morning.
The headline figures are certainly very impressive -- revenue increased 904% to 137.6 million pounds, up from 2011's 13.7 million pounds; gross sales grew 1,154% to 171.9 million pounds; pre-tax profit is up 915%, at 41.2 million pounds; and there was a 148% rise in basic earnings per share, to 1.17 pence.
The impressive growth has come from a strategy of partnership followed by acquisition in its core markets -- in 2012 Quindell bought or achieved a controlling interest in a number of companies, including Silverbeck Rymer, Pinto Potts and The Compensation Lawyers (all legal services firms specializing in personal injury claims), Ai Claims Solutions (a leading outsourcer of motor insurance claims management), IT-Freedom (an insurance sector software solutions company), Quintica (a technology specialist in the telecommunications sector in Africa and the Middle East), Overland Health (a provider of physiotherapy, psychological counselling and injury case management), and Quindell Property Services, which the company says will enable it to provide "disruptive outsourcing and technology solutions to the property insurance market place".

Another potential earnings short-squeeze trade idea is cloud services player J2 Global (JCOM), which is set to release its numbers on Tuesday after the market close. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect J2 Global to report revenue $130.43 million on earnings of 71cents per share.
The current short interest as a percentage of the float for J2 Global is extremely high at 20.6%. That means that out of the 43.70 million shares in the tradable float, 9.01 million shares are sold short by the bears. If the bulls get the earnings news they're looking for, then shares of JCOM could easily explode higher post-earnings.
From a technical perspective, JCOM is currently trending above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which is bullish. This stock has been uptrending strong for the last six months, with shares moving higher from its low of $38.07 to its recent high of $56.24 a share. During that uptrend, shares of JCOM have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of JCOM within range of triggering a major breakout trade post-earnings.
If you're in the bull camp on JCOM, then I would wait until after its report and look for long-biased trades if this stock manages to break out above its 52-week high at $56.42 a share (or Tuesday's intraday high if higher) on high volume. Look for volume on that move that hits near or above its three-month average action of 292,457 shares. If that breakout hits, then JCOM will set up to enter new 52-week-high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that breakout are $65 to $75 a share.
I would simply avoid JCOM or look for short-biased trades if after earnings it fails to trigger that breakout, and then drops below some key near-term support levels at $54 to $53 a share with high volume. If we get that move, then JCOM will set up to re-test or possibly take out its ne

The stock has climbed 22 percent this month, making it the best performer on the Bloomberg-Russia gauge. Internet Services
The Company provides a variety of internet access data lines to its customers, including bulk broadband data access to support large corporate users; digital high-speed data lines in varying capacity speeds for business and residential use; and residential dial-up connectivity. Digital high-speed Internet access is provided through digital subscriber line (DSL) cable modems or wireless broadband, depending upon the location, in which the service is offered and through fiber connectivity to business customers. The Company charges its Internet customers a flat rate for unlimited Internet usage and a premium for higher speed Internet services. In Maine and Missouri, it provides legacy dial-up Internet services throughout the state.
Transport Services
The Company�� competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) receive monthly recurring revenues for the rental of fiber to transport data. and other telecommunications services in Maine and New Hampshire. Its businesses and telecommunications carriers are 423 mile owned and leased fiber route.
Network Assets
The Company�� telephone networks include carrier grade advanced switching capabilities provided by traditional digital, as well as software based switches, fiber rings and routes and network software supporting specialized business applications. Its networks enable the Company to provide traditional and Internet Protocol ( IP), wireline telephone services and other calling features; long distance services; digital Internet access services through DSL and cable modems and circuits; and specialized customer specific applications. Long Distance Carriers: The industry dropped 0.71% by 10:35 am. The worst performer in this industry was Otelco (NASDAQ: OTEL), which declined 0.4%. Otelco is expected to release its Q2 financial and operational results on August 6, 2014.
