Top 10 International Companies To Invest In 2014

Bloomberg News

At the height of the 1998 Asian economic crisis, then-Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan declared the U.S. was no “oasis of prosperity” in times of global stress.

It is a lesson Ben S. Bernanke's successor will need to heed upon inheriting a central bank once again facing a domestic need to think internationally.

For five years, the Fed has focused on home-grown challenges, including financial turmoil and the recession and surge in unemployment that resulted. The biggest threat to U.S. expansion under its next chairman may lie outside its borders as China and fellow emerging markets show signs of weakening.

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Ceragon Networks (CRNT) provides wireless backhaul solutions that enable cellular operators and other wireless service providers to deliver voice and data services worldwide. This stock closed up 2.4% to $2.11 in Tuesday's trading session.

    Tuesday's Range: $2.05-$2.12
    52-Week Range: $2.00-$4.35
    Tuesday's Volume: 534,000
    Three-Month Average Volume: 321,547

From a technical perspective, CRNT trended notably higher here right above some key near-term support at $2 with above-average volume. This stock recently formed a major bottoming chart pattern, since the stock find buying interest each time it pulled back to around $2 a share. Since that bottom, shares of CRNT have started to move higher and the stock is now quickly pushing within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if CRNT manages to take out some key near-term overhead resistance levels at $2.14 to around $2.20 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in CRNT as long as it's trending above support at $2 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 321,547 shares. If that breakout begins soon, then CRNT will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance level near its gap-down-day high from July at around $2.30. Any high-volume move above $2.30 will then give CRNT a chance to tag $2.50 to $2.60, or even $2.70 to $2.80.

Top 10 International Companies To Invest In 2014: Lennar Corp.(LEN)

The third largest U.S. homebuilder by revenue reported exceptional Q3 results, as its earnings more than quadrupled, primarily as a result of an increase in new-home demand. The reported net income of 40c was well ahead of last year's 11c, and the forecasted 28c.

According to the company's CEO, Stuart Miller, "The homebuilding business is beginning to revert to normal, and that's a positive for the U.S. economy in general, which is in turn good for sustained recovery in the housing market. Overall demand has been improving and we've seen a consistent sales pace at improving prices."

LEN's contract backlog, which is an indicator of future sales, rose by a whopping 79% on a YoY basis. Its average selling price of delivered homes also increased to $258,000 from last year's $247,000.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By WALLSTCHEATSHEET]

Lennar stock-price momentum has shifted in the wrong direction as interest rates have slowly headed higher. To simplify the future potential of Lennar, if interest rates head back down, then Lennar is a great investment. If interest rates continue to increase, then Lennar is a bad investment. And if interest rates gradually move higher (a realistic possibility), then nobody really knows the answer. However, if interest rates gradually move higher, then they will eventually reach a point where most consumers (not investors) won be able to afford a home (see weak consumer). That being the case, how can Lennar possibly bea winning long-term investment? Lennar would be a winning long-term investment if rates were already at reasonable levels and the consumer was strong. However, that isn the environment wee currently living in.
