So, in this series of articles, we're going to look at what customers of The Motley Fool ShareDealing Service have been buying in the past week or so, and what might have made them decide to do so.

Fiesta Restaurant Group (FRGI) owns, operates and franchises fast-casual restaurants under the Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana brand names. This stock closed up 10.5% to $34.73 in Friday's trading session.

    Friday's Volume: 552,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 220,525

    Volume % Change: 140%

From a technical perspective, FRGI ripped sharply higher here right off some near-term support at $30.89 and back above its 50-day moving average of $34.23 with strong upside volume. This move pushed shares of FRGI into breakout territory, since the stock took out some near-term overhead resistance at $33.14. Shares of FRGI are now starting to move within range of triggering another key breakout trade. That trade will hit if FRGI manages to take out some near-term overhead resistance at $35.73 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in FRGI as long as it's trending above its 50-day at $34.23 or above $33 and then once it sustains a move or close above $35.75 with volume that hits near or above 220,525 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then FRGI will set up to re-test or possibly take out its all-time high at $38.84. Any high-volume move above that level will then give FRGI a chance to trend north of $40.

The company isn't exactly a bargain, and it's also a established, mature company in a relatively low-growth area. We aren't talking about some hot dot-com here. However, one of the real beauties of Verizon isn't its growth, but its power within its market. Few would deny that Verizon andAT&T (NYSE: T  ) share an effective oligopoly in the U.S. telecom market.

Verizon announced that it would be partnering with Jennifer Lopez, who is planning on opening a number of wireless retail stores around the country in an effort to appeal to the Latino market. Another story that likely played a role in the declining share price was that while Verizon may have the largest LTE Network, rival AT&T (NYSE: T  ) was crowned with the fastest. The experts at TechHive conducted their annual survey and found that for the second year in a row AT&T had the fastest network, averaging download speeds of 13.15 mbps and 6.45 mbps for uploads.

The opportunity exists because the once-thriving secondary/tertiary life settlement market has been all but abandoned by institutional investors, scared off by litigious insurers like Phoenix and a lack of manufactured policies. My research indicates that this undue pessimism towards life settlement contracts (LSC) has begun to reverse itself, or has at least stabilized. Investors who are far smarter than me are snapping up contracts and policies, seeking to capitalize on the uncorrelated, and excessive, IRRs. These investors seem to agree with our thesis that life settlements should outperform most other asset classes over a long enough time period.

5 Best Clean Energy Stocks To Buy For 2014

We retain our Neutral recommendation on Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (PNW). The Arizona based utility play presently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Why the Reiteration?

Pinnacle West posted inspiring earnings results in the first quarter of 2013, widely surpassing our expectation. The company outperformed on the back of positive non-fuel rate changes and favorable retail sales.

Nevertheless, our reiteration takes into consideration the impact of the Obama climate plan which calls for reduction in coal-fired operations in the future. This will inevitably take a toll on Pinnacle West coal-generation business, which forms a major part of its operational mix.

Also, the lingering weak economic fundamentals in the U.S. will continue to prevent electric prices from gaining momentum thereby deterring Pinnacle West opportunities.

Yet, the company gradual shift to renewable energy sources will bode well for its future broad growth objectives. Pinnacle West has a series of solar investments in the pipeline in Arizona which will elevate its clean energy generation share to 15% by 2025. This will be further supported by consistent customer additions expected in the next 3 years.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Jessica Alling]

Insurance operating income jumped 28% compared to 2012, while investment income was relatively flat. The company has been working on both its underwriting practices and risk selection. And though the flat nature of its investment income may seem disappointing, all of the players in the insurance market have been dealing with pressure from the low interest rates. So the investment income generated by AIG is sign of strength in a difficult environment, with both positive returns from higher securities values and alternative investments. Competitor Allstate (NYSE: ALL  ) noted in its earnings report Wednesday that it was moving into more cash-generating investments that would ultimately lead to lower investment income in the future. AIG hasn't made the same move, and may end up benefiting from the decision to hold firm.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Damian Illia] , but ahead of Starbucks (SBUX), expansion potential in emerging markets abounds, and its brand name recognition should certainly help it achieve this goal.

Although its valuation at 39 times its earnings makes the stock slightly less attractive, its industry-leading margins, above 40%, make up for it. Moreover, Dunkin faces better growth projections than Yum analysts expect Dunkin to deliver average annual EPS growth rates around 16% over the next five years. Finally, a 1.66% dividend yield makes the deal even sweeter.

    What About Returns?

One efficient way to compare both firms would be looking at their returns on equity. While Yum offers a 65.4% return on equity, more than double its peers麓 mean, Dunkin only boasts 23.2%. Although this wide difference should concern Dunkin investors, I still believe that the company offers compelling growth prospects, based on an asset-light model and plenty of expansion opportunities, both domestically and internationally.

Just like me, Jim Simons seems to be placing his bets on Dunkin, as he has reduced his participation at Yum substantially over the last few months, while increasing his stake at Dunkin. In addition, other big investors like Steven Cohen SAC Capital Advisors, are also betting strong on the company, and have already perceived plenty of stock price upside.

Perhaps Verizon should have made this issue more public and not agreed to it without a good public fight, and in that way forced all of its peers to also bear this weight today, if they are not involved. Though it was restricted in that way due to the issue's secret status. Since it seems logical and probable that other telecommunications providers are involved, Verizon should make a major PR effort to clear its name or at least bring in the names of its peers into the judgment pool. Verizon is at the center of the spotlight because of the Guardian article that broke the news, and because it is the largest telecommunications company in America. I believe it could mitigate any brand damage I'm speaking of here if it can implicate its most important peers as well, including AT&T (T), Sprint Nextel (S), Comcast (CMCSA), Time Warner Cable (TWC) and the rest, in the same mess.

Top 5 US Stocks For 2014

Let face facts- wee energy hogs. Energy usage continues to rise at a rapid pace as people across the world live more modern and connected lives. And while new sources of supply- from shale gas to solar power- have taken some of the pressures off of that high demand, the truth is wee still using electricity at an alarming rate.

To that end, a variety of governments have been seeking solutions to the potential energy crisis and energy efficiency measures have become the topic du jour. A consumer look to do more with less, one of the biggest opportunities could lie within in commercial and residential lighting space. New technologies are the main culprit of energy use across the world, but they are also helping to reduce the amount of energy needed to light-up our planet.

For investors, focusing on this need for energy efficiency could provide great long-term gains for a portfolio.

As it turns out, many e-cig start-ups and even tobacco industry giant Lorillard (NYSE: LO  ) have infringed on these patents, possibly due to their rush getting e-cig products to market. So, six months on from closing the deal with Dragonite, Fontem Ventures, backed by Imperial Tobacco, has filed nine lawsuits in a federal court, asking the court to rule that the patents infringed were valid, and the defendants should pay as-of-yet unspecified damages. The companies Imperial is taking to court are Lorillard, NJOY, Vapor Corp., VMR Products LLC, Ballantyne Brands LLC, CB Distributors, Spark Industries LLC, Logic Technology Development LLC, FIN Branding Group LLC, Victory Electronic Cigarettes Corp. (NASDAQOTH: ECIG  ) , and DR Distributors LLC. So, it would seem as if Imperial is intending to kill off the majority of its competition before many of them can even get much of a foothold in the market.
